Welcome to Morton, Filip Stuparevic
Greenock Morton are delighted to announce the signing of Filip Stuparevic on a season-long loan deal from Motherwell FC.
The forward started his career in the Youth Academy of FK Rad before a move to Voždovac in 2016. Following his move to Voždovac, Filip made his top-flight debut at just 15, making him the youngest player to have played in the top level of Serbian football.
With two seasons of experience under his belt in Serbia, Filip was signed by Watford in 2018 for a reported multi-million-pound fee. In his time with Watford, the 24-year-old had loan spells returning to Voždovac as well as a short-term loan in the Czech Republic with Příbram.
A permanent return to Serbia would come in 2021 as Filip left Watford for Metalac Gornji Milanovac where he scored 5 goals and assisted twice across 28 games. After the 2021/22 season, Filip had a short stint in the UAE with Al Urooba but he chose to return to Europe with Slovenian side Domžale.
In 23 games with Domžale, the 24-year-old scored 7 goals and picked up 2 assists, earning him a move to Motherwell this Summer. Filip started brightly in Scotland with a goal against Clyde in the Premier Sports Cup and now makes the switch to Greenock and we are delighted to have him onboard!
Manager Dougie Imrie commented, “Filip is an extremely talented player that will get the fans off their seat. He is just 24-years-old but joins with a wealth of experience and he will be real asset to the team. I am delighted to welcome him to the club.”
Filip will wear the number 9 shirt with his strips now available to sponsor. If you are interested in sponsoring Filip, please contact mark.kelly@gmfc.net.
