Thomson pleased to get off mark in the league

Goalscorer Robert Thomson speaks to Jonathan Mitchell after earning his side a point with a fine header away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. But the forward also felt he could have scored a second to snatch all three points.

Although the hitman was pleased to get off the mark in the Ladbrokes Championship, he couldn’t help but think it could have been a double:

“It’s always nice to get a goal – and that’s my first in the league. I’m just maybe disappointed not to get a second one.

“I had another chance at the stramash and was a wee bit disappointed with that. It fell to me but I just couldn’t get much power on it and the keeper’s fallen on top of it.

“Am I crediting the keeper with a good save? Nah, I probably should have done better and maybe taken a touch.

Thomson felt a point apiece was a fair result on the day, though, adding:

“I think the 1-1 draw was a fair reflection of the game. We never started well enough and they obviously went up 1-0.

“It was under par, but the second half was a different story. Credit to us, we went on and played some good football.

“Overall, if you’d said at half-time that we’d come away with a point, we’d have taken it. So we’ve got to be happy with the result.
