Staff Profile | Alistair Joyce

As part of our recent fan focus groups in December, an important area of feedback was highlighting the people involved operationally at the club to build stronger relationships and knowledge between staff and supporters of who is who and what functions they carry out.

As we look to help increase supporters’ knowledge of the staff at the club, a new Staff Profile feature has been introduced to give a better insight into the operations behind the scenes at Cappielow.

Starting off our Staff Profiles is Club Secretary Alistair Joyce.

Name
Alistair Joyce

Job Role
Club Secretary

Length of time you have worked at the club
I have been at the club for two years, whilst being in the Secretary capacity for just over a year.

What are your main responsibilities?
My main responsibilities are the completion of the club’s SPFL Membership and SFA Club Licence. My other roles include registration of players, setting-up of home matchday operations, submission of teamlines for home and away matches.

What does a typical week look like for you at Cappielow
A typical week would be setting-up for our next home match which includes preparation of tickets for sale on Fanbase and in-person, configuration of home turnstiles, liaising with opposition clubs over logistics, ticketing etc. A typical week would also include dealing with queries from home/away supporters and opposing clubs, liaising with club contractors for works needed in/around the stadium and assisting my colleagues with any help they require.

What are the best bits of working at Morton?
Working in football in general is like nothing I’ve ever done before. Working with Morton specifically, I enjoy the environment and camaraderie between my colleagues, players and staff. I also feel a great sense of satisfaction when I’m able to assist our supporters with any queries or requests they may have.

What has been your biggest success in your role so far?
My biggest success would be the completion of the Club’s SFA Licence for 24/25, which can be quite painstaking at times, but I feel a great sense of pride in knowing that it has been completed and accepted successfully. My other big success would have to be the successful matchday operations of all our home matches, but in particular, the Scottish Cup matches against Motherwell and Heart of Midlothian where we had crowds of over 5,000 and 7,000 respectively.

What are you looking forward to over the next 12 months?
Over the next year I’m looking forward to completing our SFA Licence for 25/26 and (hopefully) being able to assist in hosting more “Glamour” ties here at Cappielow.
