Specsavers to sponsor Communities Cup
Greenock Morton and St. Mirren are delighted to announce Specsavers Greenock & Paisley as sponsors for Saturday’s Communities Cup game at Cappielow Park, supported by Dalrada Technology.
Established in 1882, the traditional Renfrewshire Cup clash was a staple part of the calendar up until the last fixture back in 2014.
This Saturday, the two community-owned teams will reignite the Renfrewshire Derby.
A family-run business for over 35 years, Specsavers work to provide the best value optometry, audiology and other healthcare service for their customers.
With branches in Paisley and Greenock, Specsavers are long-standing supporters of football in the community and are a fantastic partner to have on board for Saturday’s match.
Ross Dunbar, Head of Commercial at Greenock Morton: “As we bring together two community-owned rivals, it’s great to have the support of a great community-focused brand like Specsavers.
“With nearly 2500 tickets sold already, it’s shaping up to be a great atmosphere and we’re looking forward to having football back at Cappielow on Saturday.”
Megan Brown, store director in Specsavers Greenock, says: ‘We’re hugely excited to be involved in such an exciting game to warm up ahead of the big season kick-off later this summer. With such a local derby against St Mirren also championing the local community, we’re thrilled to be able to sponsor such an event.
Gail Thompson, store director in Specsavers Paisley, says: ‘Everyone in the Specsavers Paisley store is thrilled to be supporting the team at St Mirren for the Communities Cup this week against Greenock Morton. As a key part of the town’s community ourselves for over 30 years, we hope everyone attending has a fantastic day and we wish the St Mirren team the best of luck!’
