Peter Grant: I will give my all for Morton

New signing Peter Grant is determined to give everything he has to ensure that Morton are a success in the upcoming season.

David Hopkin’s seventh signing spoke very highly of both the club and the manager in his first interview since signing a deal at Cappielow this morning.

Speaking exclusively to gmfc.net, Grant said: “I met the players for the first time today and they’re all a great bunch of boys.”

“Training was great and the lads are buzzing to get going in the new season.”

The 25-year-old’s first meeting with Hopkin was a chance for him to understand the clear view of what was required from every player at the club and where the manager desired the club to be.

“It’s great to have a manager as keen as he is when I signed. I met with him at the middle of last week and he showed great interest in me at that time. It gave me a bounce to hear such high praise from such a fantastic manager.

“I’d played against his Livingston side when he was manager there and they were tough to beat because of the way he had drilled his ideas to the players.”

The former Carlisle and Falkirk defender has had a great relationship with Reghan Tumilty and Bob McHugh at previous clubs and insists that speaking to them influenced his decision to come to Cappielow.

He continued: “Bob and Reghan had nothing but great things to say about the club on and off the pitch. When someone speaks as highly as they have, it gives you a whole new insight. Speaking to players at the club is always the best way to understand the experience.”

The Ton’s new man wants nothing but success for the club and has high ambitions for the season ahead.

He concluded: “The biggest thing for Morton is to have a consistent season and I will give my all and play a part in making sure that happens.

“The gaffer has detailed each of our own roles and if we work hard it will come together and we can give the fans something to cheer about.”
