Partick Thistle’s Fraser joins on emergency loan

We are delighted to announce that Partick Thistle midfielder Gary Fraser has today joined the club on an emergency loan until 21 May 2018.

The 23-year-old, who played against the Ton for the Jags in a League Cup second round tie at Cappielow back in August 2014, has made five appearances for the Firhill outfit this term.

And Greenock gaffer Duffy has swooped to snap up the former Hamilton Accies and Bolton Wanderers man in order to strengthen his squad for the remainder of the campaign.

Fraser, who has been assigned the No. 23 shirt, will be available for selection in tonight’s Ladbrokes Championship fixture away at Livingston.

Duffy told gmfc.net: “Gary is a very talented player who has had a few injury problems over the last year and I think that’s impacted on his opportunities at Partick Thistle.

“When he has played prior to his injury, he’s shown he’s a very gifted footballer. He’s got a good range of passing, can get into the box, score goals … he’s a good acquisition and will complement the players we have.

“Three or four weeks ago, I wasn’t really looking at that area of the pitch, because I was hoping the likes of perhaps Thommo [Robert Thomson] and Lee Kilday were a bit closer to the first-team.

“Unfortunately, that’s not been the case so with the games coming thick and fast, we felt it was important to strengthen and he’ll be in the squad tonight.”
