New appointment to board of directors

We are delighted to announce that Mr Derek Anderson has been appointed as a member of the board of directors of Greenock Morton Football Club. His appointment is effective immediately.

Derek, who had two separate spells with the club as a player and achieved his UEFA Pro Licence last year, was appointed as head of youth in March 2012 and has now been promoted to the position of director of youth.

Our youth academy has been striving to reach the highest possible level within the new Scottish Football Association Project Brave initiative.

Regrettably, we were unsuccessful with our submission to attain the Performance Progressive level due to our Measurable Performance Outcomes because we had only five years of history.

We fully recognise that development of youth players is what will make Greenock Morton sustainable as a club for the future and while this news was disappointing, it has made us even more determined and appointing Derek to the board will increase our efforts to ensure that the pathway of young talent to the first team will be his main priority.
