McAlister willing to continue to cover at back

Midfielder Jim McAlister revealed he was prepared to plug a defensive gap after discussing filling in there with manager Jonatan Johansson due to the team’s injury problems and is more than willing to continue if required.

Versatile club captain McAlister, who began his career as a wideman before playing at full-back and wing-back and finally central midfield, dropped into the left centre-half following Kerr Waddell’s dismissal on Saturday.

The 33-year-old picked up the sponsor’s man of the match from former team-mate John Maisano and said that he would be prepared to continue at the back if gaffer Johansson sees it as a solution to his injury woes.

On the outcome of the match, a 2-1 loss to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Cappielow, McAlister felt that 10-man Ton could have claimed a point had they been more ruthless in front of goal.
