It’s a return to competitive action tomorrow afternoon as the Ton head East to face Kelty Hearts in the Viaplay Cup. This fixture will mark the first competitive meeting between the two sides with the Ton looking to pick up three points to kick start their Viaplay Cup campaign. In the final fixture of pre-season, Morton ran out 2-0 winners at home against St. Mirren in the Renfrewshire Derby and will hope to use that match as momentum coming into the League Cup.
Former Ton man, Michael Tidser, is the current boss of Kelty Hearts with a number of other ex-Morton players on the books at New Central Park such as Thomas O’Ware, Reece Lyon, Stefan McCluskey and David McGurn. Kelty come into this game following a comprehensive 5-1 victory against Bo’ness Athletic in their final game of pre-season.
