Managers Notes

Morton gaffer, Dougie Imrie, will be watching on from the stands tomorrow afternoon as he serves the first game of his 10-match ban (6 immediate, 4 suspended) but he had this to say ahead of tomorrow’s fixture :

Last week was a great result with what was at stake in the table, we knew Queen of the South would be coming into the game needing to get the win so I was happy with the character the boys showed to come back in the second half and secure the three points.

Losing a poor goal against the run of play like that was frustrating but the reaction from the team to get back into it through Gavin Reilly then to get the second in such a short space of time really topped off what was an accomplished performance.

Our focus every game is to win and the boys are performing really well at the moment but we need to keep our feet on the ground and not get carried away going into what is another big game against Hamilton with so much still to play for.

Tomorrow is a big game for many reasons but we’ve got to go there with the same attitude as the second half performance from last week. We are in a great place at the moment but we need to keep pushing to strengthen our position in the table.”

Previous Encounters

In what was a fairly even encounter last time out at Cappielow the points were shared as goals from Lewis Smith and a 97th minute Hamilton Accies own goal saw the match finish 1-1.

The Ton will be hoping for a repeat of the first time the two sides met this season as a first Morton goal for Gozie Ugwu sealed a 1-0 win at the Fountain of Youth Stadium. With the Cappielow side currently unbeaten in the last 6 league games it is a chance to keep that run going as well as remain unbeaten against the Accies this season.
