Buchanan injury not as bad as first feared

Manager Jonatan Johansson has received a boost from the treatment table after learning defender Gregor Buchanan‘s knee injury is not as bad as initially feared.

The 28-year-old suffered a clash of knees with Bairns keeper David Mitchell in the 77th minute of Saturday’s goalless draw at Falkirk and limped off the pitch fearing he faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Although a full diagnosis has not yet been possible due to swelling and bruising, Ton boss Johansson says the signs are encouraging.

He told media officer Jonathan Mitchell: “Gregor has been a key performer defensively recently and I was delighted he capped a fine performance against Dundee United with his first goal for the club.

“Bucky also had a good, solid game at Falkirk, which it is why it was so disappointing for him to have to come off with an injury.

“We don’t know the full extent of the damage to his knee yet but the signs are encouraging and it is maybe not as serious as we first thought.”
