Board Update: Kenneth Weldin appointed as Finance Director
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kenneth Weldin to the Board of Directors as Finance Director.
A Partner at PKF, Ken has more than 30 years’ international experience advising boards, businesses and organisations on governance, risk management, financial stewardship and organisational performance.
Although currently based in Melbourne, he is a lifelong Morton supporter and retains personal and professional links with Scotland through a number of committee and board roles with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
With direct experience working with sporting organisations and football clubs, his background provides a strong understanding of both the opportunities and challenges facing community-focused sporting institutions.
As Finance Director, Ken will support the Board in maintaining strong financial governance and helping to secure the Club’s long-term sustainability and success.
Kenneth Weldin said:
“I am proud to join the Board of Greenock Morton Football Club as Finance Director. Morton has been part of my family’s story for generations, and anyone who knows me will recognise just how much this appointment means to me personally. I will never take lightly the responsibility that comes with helping to steward a club that means so much to so many people.
My focus will be on helping ensure the Club becomes, and then remains, financially strong, well governed and positioned for long-term success. Football will always be driven by passion, but now more than ever, boards also have a responsibility to think beyond the next result and make decisions that protect and strengthen their clubs for future generations.
We all recognise that there is significant work ahead. The Board has already commenced a thorough review of the Club’s financial position, governance arrangements and future priorities. While that work is at an early stage, we are committed to providing supporters with a further update in due course. Supporters should be assured that the Board and I are committed to transparency, responsible financial stewardship and making decisions in the long-term interests of Greenock Morton Football Club.
