Supporter Behaviour Update Ahead of the New League Season

As we prepare to begin our league campaign tomorrow against Partick Thistle, we would like to take this opportunity to thank every Greenock Morton supporter for your unwavering commitment throughout last season and over the summer. Your passion, loyalty and backing of the club never go unnoticed.

Ahead of the match, however, we also want to remind all supporters that behaviour when in and around Cappielow on matchday reflects not only on the fanbase, but on Greenock Morton Football Club as a whole.

Supporters will be aware that the club faced disciplinary action last season as a result of unacceptable behaviour by a small minority. These incidents have resulted in financial penalties and the threat of further sanctions, with the potential for even more serious consequences should similar incidents occur again. Those consequences do not affect only the individuals involved; they impact the entire football club, both financially and reputationally.

The overwhelming majority of our supporters represent Morton with pride wherever they go, and we are incredibly grateful for that. We ask everyone attending tomorrow’s match and any match throughout the season, home or away, to continue setting that example and to play their part in ensuring the focus remains firmly on supporting Ian Murray, his staff and the players.

We all recognise that this has been a challenging start to the season, but now, more than ever, we need everyone behind the team. Your backing from the stands can make a genuine difference, and your continued support is crucial both on and off the pitch.

Let’s begin this league season together by showing the very best of Greenock Morton. Passionate, vocal and unwavering in our support, while respecting our opponents, match officials and everyone attending the game.
