Zak McKay signs a one-year deal
Greenock Morton are delighted to announce the signing of Zak McKay.
The 20-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Ton after impressing Dougie Imrie in pre-season.
Starting his career as a right-back coming through the Rangers youth academy, Zak has since spent time at Stenhousemuir and Cumbernauld Colts, where he has transitioned from a fullback to an attacking threat on the right side or as a striker.
In his season at Cumbernauld Colts, McKay netted 11 goals in 37 Lowland League appearances.
Zak previously spent time on trial at Cappielow and was involved in our 2-0 win over St Mirren in the 2023 Communities Cup match.
After an impressive performance as a trialist against Morton during pre-season and time training with the squad, Manager Dougie Imrie has rewarded the promising young player with a one-year deal, and we are delighted to welcome Zak to Cappielow.
Subject to SFA approval
On today’s signing, Dougie Imrie added, “Zak is a young player that I have known for a long time, he brings pace and energy to the team, and he can also play a number of positions across the frontline.”
