Ton’s 150th Anniversary to Receive Civic Receptions
The 150th Anniversary of Greenock Morton FC will be marked by two prestigious civic receptions in 2024.
Firstly, we will make history by becoming the first football club to hold a reception in the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood in October. Thanks to the support of local MSP Stuart McMillan, the club’s 150th Anniversary will be celebrated in the Garden Lobby of Holyrood to recognise the monumental part the club has played in the local community and across Inverclyde.
Inverclyde Council will also be hosting a civic reception in July which will see the club’s achievements recognised locally.
The events will also see the work and story of Greenock Morton FC shared with those in attendance as we celebrate the great and good of The Ton over the last 150 years.
On the announcement of both events, General Manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald has said, “We are honoured and proud to be the first club hosting a reception at Scottish Parliament. My unwavering thanks go to Stuart McMillan MSP who has heavily supported this, and we are indebted to him for working with us to make this possible.”
“To host two such prestigious events is a fantastic way to celebrate the club’s significant anniversary and on behalf of the board and everybody at the club we are delighted to see our 150th anniversary recognised at such a high level.”
Local MSP Stuart McMillan added, “I am delighted to be sponsoring the parliamentary reception commemorating 150 years of Greenock Morton F.C. This is the first time a football club has held such an event in the Scottish Parliament, and it will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the club’s history, community engagement and ambitions for the future.”
