Ton to host Cardiff City in pre-season friendly
Greenock Morton Football Club are pleased to confirm we will host English Premier League side Cardiff City in a pre-season friendly fixture here at Cappielow on Tuesday 31 July, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
The Welsh outfit finished second in last season’s English Championship, securing automatic promotion back to the top flight after four seasons in the second tier.
Cardiff are bossed by Neil Warnock, who not only has a soft spot for the Ton due to the fact his wife Sharon’s grandparents hail from Dunoon but has a personalised brick in our Wall of Fame.
No stranger to Cappielow, Neil also brought his Sheffield United team north for a friendly in the summer of 2006, which the Blades won 3-1 against a Ton side managed by Jim McInally.
Admission prices will be confirmed in due course.
