There’s only two Mark Farrells!

Greenock Morton Football Club are delighted to confirm the appointment of Mark Farrell as our head of football science and medicine.

A 29-year-old who holds a first-class honours degree in sports coaching in science as well as professional qualifications from the NSCA, Farrell worked as head of sports science at Albion Rovers last season.

He also performed the same role with Motherwell and Kilmarnock’s youth academies and previously put his UEFA B licence to use as a community coach with the Scottish FA.

Mark joins us here at Cappielow as a key member of Jonatan Johansson’s backroom staff and will work closely with physio Alyson Fielding on all aspects of the first-team squad’s fitness and physical conditioning.

Speaking to media officer Jonathan Mitchell, Ton boss Johansson said: “This is a position we’ve been interviewing for for a few weeks, and it’s a very, very important role.

“Mark comes with a great CV, he has worked in football before, he has taken coaching badges, so he understands the group dynamics in football. He is very qualified.

“He was in a couple of times for interviews and I really liked him, liked his personality, so I’m really happy to be able to bring him in. He will be vital to the coaching staff.”
