Name
Gareth Reid
Job Role
Media Officer
Length of time you have worked at the club?
I am now in my 5th year at the club.
I started at the club in 2020 as a volunteer and have worked my way up through different roles. I have been in my current role since August 2023.
What are your main responsibilities?
My main responsibilities are the running of all club social media channels and updating the website, creating and editing graphics, writing general website articles (ticket info, commercial details, match info etc), planning, filming and editing interviews/video content, matchday social media coverage & post-match content creation, and liaising with press outlets (both match and non-match related).
What does a typical week look like for you at Cappielow?
A typical week usually consists of planning out social posts (creating/editing graphics/videos, writing articles and scheduling the posts), liaising with players for press interviews, dealing with any general email/phone enquiries, controlling the live stream for home matches and dealing with any live stream orders, conducting and editing pre- and post-match interviews as well as covering all matches and editing footage post-match.
What are the best bits of working at Morton?
The best bit for me is the general atmosphere and environment within the stadium on a daily basis, I have also been involved in football from a young age starting in the juniors so working in this position has always been a dream of mine.
The support and guidance from other media personnel at the club has also been great such as our photographers David Bell & Gary Bradley as well as our main videographer Jacky O’Donnell.
What has been your biggest success in your role so far?
I feel my biggest success has been my self-progression at the club and continuing to mature in my role. Starting at the club straight from college, there have been so many aspects to learn from the job and I am still learning more every week.
What are you looking forward to over the next 12 months?
Continuing to progress in my role while improving the social media output of the club as best as I can.
