Ruaridh Langan Signs Contract Extension

We are pleased to announce that midfielder Ruaridh Langan has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the club until 10 June 2018.

A Greenock-born former St Stephen’s pupil, Under-20s skipper Ruaridh – pronounced Rory – has progressed through the ranks with us here at Cappielow and is now a mainstay with the Development Squad.

Langan, a central midfielder who can also fill in at centre-half, made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 5-0 Betfred Cup group win against Edinburgh City on Saturday 29 July 2017 and has made three sub outings to date.

The 19-year-old originally signed a six-month deal back in July, and with his contract set to expire at the turn of the year, manager Jim Duffy moved to offer him a new deal until the end of the campaign.

Duffy told gmfc.net: “We recently extended Ruaridh Langan’s contract until the end of the season. We feel that with his attitude and desire and performances at Under-20 level, he deserved that extension.

“He’s been in and around the first-team for most of the season, and it’s now about whether he can make the next step, which is to compete with the players currently in central midfield.

“That’s a very competitive area of the team and he realises the size of the task ahead of him. But one thing Ruaridh is not short of is determination, so he’s looking forward to the challenge.”
