MSP kicks off charity pipeathon at Cappielow
Local SNP MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde Stuart McMillan kicked off his charity Pipeathon here at Cappielow this morning.
Morton supporter Stuart, who is the Scottish parliamentary piper, plans to travel the country and play the bagpipes at 42 senior football stadiums in the space of five days in an attempt to raise £3,000 for three causes.
Stuart told gmfc.net: “The Pipeathon is a first and it mixes two of my pastimes, piping and football, for three great causes.
“The Pipeathon has been a long time in the planning and I would like to thank all the clubs who have agreed to allow me the use of their stadium and for their generous donations for fundraising.
“Simply put, I pipe around the pitch of each of the senior clubs in Scotland. We start here at the home of my own team, Greenock Morton, today and finish at the National Stadium, Hampden in Glasgow on Friday 21 July.
“I hope to raise both awareness and money for three excellent causes: Clydeside Action on Asbestos, the Andy Adams Fund, and Cash for Kids.”
