View from Dougie Imrie

After defeat at the hands of Queen of the South there was positive news on Monday as Dougie Imrie was named Championship Manager of the Month for a second time in the space of just two months.

“It’s always good to get accolades but without the staff and players we don’t get these awards so I’ve got to give great credit to them. We need to continue that form from February going into the game tomorrow.”

“We were obviously disappointed with the result last week, I thought we started well with some good chances but we didn’t take any of them and it always comes back to bite you, we need to give credit to Queen of the South who capitalised on the missed chances. It was three soft goals to give away but we now need to regroup with a good game tomorrow against Partick Thistle.”

“Last time out at Firhill, the game was obviously difficult for both teams with the pitch playing a massive part. We’re at home tomorrow and since the turn of the year we’ve been very good at home and not lost a game yet so it’s another opportunity to keep that home form going and a good opportunity to pick up 3 points.”

“We’ll be missing a few players tomorrow with Cameron Blues out through illness, Gary Oliver is struggling with a back injury and Brian McLean is still recovering from surgery on his thumb but apart from that everyone else is fit and raring to go.”

With eight games to go in the league and five of them being at home, the importance of the fans will play a big part.

“The fans will play a massive part, we need to give them great credit. From day one since I’ve come in they have been different class backing myself and the team and with five home games left this season it would be great for them to come out in their numbers and help be the 12th man.”

The main talking point at Morton has been the change in form since Dougie arrived in December.

“There’s no secret to it, I’m just giving them instructions, a bit of self belief and a bit of confidence and with going on these good runs, it helps even more with that self belief and confidence. Since I’ve come in, every player here has been excellent, obviously last week was the most disappointing result so far but we have a great chance tomorrow to make amends for it.”

“I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here, it’s been great from day one. It’s always good when you are winning games but like I say, this is what I want to do and I’m grateful for the opportunity that Morton have given me to get into management.”
