Morton draw Aberdeen in Betfred Cup semi-final

We were tonight drawn against Aberdeen in the semi-finals of the Betfred Cup, with the final-four tie scheduled to be played on the weekend of 22 October.

Jim Duffy’s men were the first name out of the hat and were then paired with the Dons, who are currently managed by former Cappielow favourite Derek McInnes.

The Ton secured a spot in their first national semi-final in 35 years with a 2-1 win over Dundee United on Tuesday night while the Pittodrie outfit booked their place with a 1-0 victory against St Johnstone this evening.

The clubs last met on 22 August 2012 in the second round of the same competition, a match in which Aberdeen triumphed after extra-time thanks to goals from Gavin Rae and Scott Vernon.

Semi-final ties are scheduled to be played on the weekend of Saturday 22 October and the full draw was as follows:

Morton v Aberdeen
Rangers v Celtic
