McKinnon: Players are raring to go against Ayr

Manager Ray McKinnon says he is still finding out about his squad ahead of the new season but insists his new-look side will be competitive in tomorrow’s competitive curtain raiser against Ayr United.

McKinnon takes charge of his first official fixture when the Ton travel to Somerset Park for their Betfred Cup Group E opener this weekend.

Although he admits it is still early days for the group of players he has put together this summer, the Greenock gaffer says the aim is still to progress from the section and that everyone is raring to go against the Honest Men.

McKinnon also discusses how close his first-team roster is to completion, Tuesday’s closed-doors game against Queen’s Park, the club captaincy, and gives a full injury update ahead of the game against the Honest Men.
