McGowan and Armour sign contract extensions

Morton are pleased to announce that Jamie McGowan and Ben Armour have today signed contract extensions to extend their stays with the club.

Goalkeeper Jamie joined our youth academy from St Mirren in 2014 and made his first-team debut as a substitute versus Stenhousemuir in November 2014 following an injury to first choice keeper Derek Gaston.

He made his fourth and most recent first-team appearance as a substitute in the final game of the campaign, coming on to replace Bryn Halliwell for the final 21 minutes of last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee United.

And the 20-year-old shot-stopper, who made a hat-trick of fine stops against the Tangerines, has today penned a one-year deal to keep him at Cappielow until 10 June 2018.

Nineteen-year-old striker Ben, meanwhile, has been handed his first professional deal, signing a six-month extension to tie him to the Ton until 1 January 2018.

The hitman recently made his top-team debut as a late substitute away at Dunfermline Athletic on 29 April. Both his and McGowan’s present deals were set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
