Morton and Dunfermline Athletic could not be separated at Cappielow this afternoon as the clubs shared the spoils following a goalless draw.

Both teams had a point to prove following Scottish Cup exits at the hands of lower league opponents seven days earlier, and added to their respective squads prior to this Ladbrokes Championship fixture.

Greenock gaffer Jonatan Johansson brought striker Andrew Dallas and goalkeeper Robby McCrorie in on loan from Rangers, while new Pars manager Stevie Crawford signed recently released Ton custodian Ryan Scully.

Both shot-stoppers would mark their respective debuts with clean sheets after going underworked over the course of 90 minutes lacking in cutting edge attacking play.

Forward Dallas, one of four changes to the team that lost in Methill last weekend, did add a different dynamic to the Ton’s forward play in the first half and fired a well-worked half-chance narrowly over the top.

At the other end, McCrorie earned his corn by blocking at the feet of Faissal El Bakhtaoui after the frontman had been sliipped in on goal down the inside-right channel by the lively Kallum Higginbotham.

Veteran midfielder Chris Millar, playing on the left of a midfield four, went closest to scoring in the second half by working in off the flank and fizzing a crisp drive just over the crossbar.

But neither side really threatened to the break the deadlock and were left to settle for a point apiece as the match ended in stalemate.
