Scene Setter

After its postponement in the middle of December, the rescheduled game between Queen of the South and Morton is next on the cards for the Ton as Queens are welcomed down to Cappielow for this Ladbrokes Championship fixture.

With their unbeaten league run in 2020 continuing into February and the Ton 4 points away from the playoffs, the game on Saturday is set to be a cracker for all involved as the league begins to heat up.

It could be the 100th appearance of Bob McHugh on Saturday at Cappielow as the striker is hopeful for a landmark occasion ahead of the match.

After Sean McGinty’s debut on Saturday against Dundee, it could be the opportunity for new Craig McGuffie to wear the blue and white hoops for the first time since joining the club in the January transfer window.

Morton could potentially go one point away from the playoff positions with a victory against Queens at Cappielow as they hope to continue their good form with a win.

Last Time Round

It was not to be in our previous fixture against Queen of the South as the Ton fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Queen of the South after a courageous second half effort.

The Doonhamers broke the deadlock on 17 minutes when El Bakhtaoui’s shot at the edge of the box trickled past Danny Rogers and gave the home team the lead at Palmerston.

A magnificent save from Robby McCrorie denied Nicky Cadden’s effort on 70 minutes as Cadden found space for himself at the left side of the box around 18 yards out but his shot was palmed away from the danger area.

But despite continued pressure from the Ton, they were unable to get the equaliser in which they desired at Palmerston Park.

Gaffer’s Thoughts

“I’m absolutely over the moon to get Kris Doolan over the line. You can tell he’s a top quality player with his first touches and his finishing is just brilliant to watch when we were in training this week.

“The coaching work and the fitness work we’re doing is really showing on the pitch and the boys are showing a real desire to perform in every game we play.

“It’s going to be a tough game on Saturday but every game in this league is tough so as long as we stick to our game plan there’s no reason why we can’t get the win.

“As long as the boys perform as we all know they can then we should give it a right good effort to get the victory at Cappielow on Saturday.”
