MacPherson: Work ethic inspired a great performance

Manager Gus MacPherson described Morton’s Championship play-off victory over Airdrie as a “miracle” and applauded his side’s efforts as they maintained their Championship status for another season.

The Greenock gaffer made no secret as to how difficult the last few months have been but he was delighted that his players were able to show enough energy and drive to comfortably win the play-offs to avoid relegation.

A night that saw Morton fans return to the stands for the first time in over a year, MacPherson admitted that the bounce from the supporters gave his team the lift they needed to get over the finish line.
