Lee Kilday signs one-year contract extension
We are pleased to report that Lee Kilday has today agreed a one-year contract extension that sees him sign up for a fifth season at Cappielow.
The 26-year-old joined the club from Hamilton Academical in July 2014 and helped the team to the League One title in his maiden campaign.
A versatile defender who can operate at both centre-half and right-back, Kilday was a regular in the Championship sides of seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17, reaching a total of 117 appearances in Ton colours.
An ankle injury saw him relegated to the sidelines for much of last term, but he returned to action during a loan spell at Airdrie and Ray McKinnon has now handed him an opportunity to make a full comeback in Greenock.
Speaking to media and communications officer Jonathan Mitchell, he said: “I’m delighted to sign Lee. He’s a very good player who knows the club, is very experienced, and gives us great flexibility across the backline.
“He had his problems with injury last year and that was a consideration, but we had a good chat and he feels he’s 100 per cent over his injury – which he is – and is raring to go.
“He is very excited about the year ahead, so hopefully he gets a really good pre-season under his belt, gets in the team and shows us all what he’s got.
“We know Lee well from playing against us. He is a very good football player so we’re extremely happy to have him on board. We’re getting there and we’re going to keep adding to the quality of the squad.”
