John Sutton Signs Player Contract

We are pleased to announce that head of development John Sutton has today signed a player’s contract and will be registered as a player coach for the forthcoming season.

Following positive discussions with manager David Hopkin, the 35-year-old has decided to come out of retirement and play a part in this season’s squad.

The former Motherwell, Dundee, and St Mirren striker will combine his playing role with his current head of development role position.

Ton gaffer Hopkin told gmfc.net: “I’m delighted that John has decided to come out of retirement and play for us this season.

“His experience will benefit the younger players in the squad and we’re hoping he’ll be able to help the younger first team players on the park and contribute with a few goals.

“I tried to sign him when I was manager at Livingston so I’ve always had that admiration for him and I’ve always been impressed by his ability as a player.

“We’ve been working closely with John since coming back last week for pre-season and he’s loving what we’re doing here, he wants to be apart of it.

“I think he still has a lot to offer as a player and will give us something different up front; so for us to be able to work with him now both as a player and as a coach at the club is a great opportunity.”
