Hynes signs one-year contract extension

We are delighted to announce that development squad defender Darren Hynes has today signed a new one-year contract to tie him to the club until 10 June 2019.

Right-back Darren joined our academy as an Under-17s player back in 2015, impressing enough to break into Andy Millen’s Under-20s as they won Development League West.

The 19-year-old made his senior bow in a pre-season friendly at Stenhousemuir last summer and saw further first-team involvement as an unused substitute in fixtures against Dunfermline Athletic and Dumbarton.

A regular as he won a second development league title this term, Hynes also made his competitive debut in the final game of the Ladbrokes Championship campaign, playing the full 90 minutes against Inverness Caley.

He becomes the fourth member of the Under-20s to agree terms, following team-mates Jack Purdue, Ben Eardley, and Daniel Farrell in signing on for next season.

And with Blair Docherty, Nathan Durham, Alexander Easdale, and Reece Lyon already under contract, this brings new head of development squad John Sutton’s group up to eight.

To sponsor Darren’s home or away shirt for season 2018/19, please contact our sales executive Lesley Ann by emailing la@gmfc.net.
