Greenock and Largs friendlies confirmed

We can confirm that a Morton XI will contest pre-season friendlies against local junior outfits Largs Thistle and Greenock Juniors.

A Ton Under-20s team will play Largs at Barrfields on Wednesday 19 July with a 7.15pm kick-off, while our annual challenge match against Greenock has been set for Ravenscraig Stadium on Sunday 6 August.

The latter fixture, facilitated by sponsors Saveheat, sees the clubs face off for the third year in a row, with the Ton winning 3-0 in the first meeting back in July 2015.

A side featuring the likes of Mark Russell, Jamie McDonagh, Kudus Oyeunga, Jon Scullion, and Caolan McAleer then ran out 5-1 victors last August.

Both clubs have new bosses this time around, with the Cappielow Under-20s coached by Darren Barr, while Greenock are now led by former Morton YTS Thomas Molloy and ex-loanee Shaun Dillon.
