Grant Gillespie looks forward to action returning

It has been a long wait to kick off 2025 for the Ton, looking to build on that important win against Partick Thistle on Hogmanay.

Club Captain Grant Gillespie reflects on the time without a match and looks ahead to tomorrow’s meeting with Queen’s Park in William Hill Championship action.

“Tomorrow is a game that we are all looking forward to, obviously we’ve not had a game since Hogmanay against Partick Thistle which has been frustrating so we are hoping tomorrow can survive the storm to allow us to get back out on the pitch and build on our unbeaten run.”

“Looking at the last 2 games against Queen’s Park, they have been disappointing in terms of results but in terms of performances they have been pretty positive, we created numerous chances especially in the first half of both games but ultimately having come away from them with 0 points has been frustrating.”

“Like I say, it’s been frustrating to have games called off but the boys have knuckled down and worked hard on keeping fitness up and keeping ourselves as sharp as possible. We had a bounce game recently which helped a lot, especially for the boys that haven’t played as many minutes as others. It was good to get 90 minutes in the legs.”

“We are hoping to keep the momentum going as best as we can but only time will tell, we’ve done all we can in terms of working hard on the training pitch but as a group we have to make sure come game day against Queens Park we are ready to go and try our best to continue our unbeaten run.”

“February is going to be a really hectic schedule for us but if we can keep performing well and getting results then hopefully we can use the positive momentum to manage the busy schedule and make a move up the league table.”
