GMFC vs BCFC Statement
Following last night’s Premier Sports Cup group stage match with Brechin City, I wish to provide the following statement.
The incidents that took place last night were wholly unacceptable and not reflective of Greenock Morton Football Club or the majority of our supporters. The small minority does not and will not reflect the larger proportion of our terrific fanbase and it is clear to see from the messages we have received since the match that the appetite is with our fanbase to ensure Cappielow continues to be an inclusive, welcoming and positive environment for all and to rid poor and unacceptable conduct.
Led by myself and our safety team here at the club, we have reviewed the footage from last night’s match on our CCTV system along with witness reports, as well as liaising with our stewarding company, which will now lead to action against those who committed the offenses. It is important to reinforce that some of the events that took place last night are illegal offenses and will come with punishments beyond club level.
In closing, I want to re-emphasise my support to the vast majority of our fanbase who behave exceptionally well in stadiums across the country, as well as our own, and make supporting Greenock Morton a positive, engaging and inclusive place for all.
