First Ton goal proved meaningless for Telfer

Midfielder Charlie Telfer says it was nice to score his first Morton goal at the time but that the final result rendered it meaningless.

The 23-year-old found the net with a piercing low drive to equalise in Saturday’s Ladbrokes Championship fixture against Ayr United at Cappielow.

But the Honest Men went on to score four times in the final 17 minutes and run out 5-1 winners, meaning Telfer’s first Ton goal was a distant memory.

The former Rangers and Dundee United man described that period as a capitulation and admitted it was unacceptable and unfair on the fans – but something the team will be doing their utmost to put right this weekend.
