Duffy: Jack’s late goal kept us in play-off mix
Delighted manager Jim Duffy has admitted that Morton’s hopes of finishing in the top four would have been all but ended without Jack Iredale’s dramatic late winner against Dumbarton last night.
The Ton looked to have been held to a debilitating home draw after Sons loanee Liam Burt netted with a deflected strike to make it 2-2 with just two minutes remaining.
But Australian defender Iredale saved the day by scoring a 94th-minute goal to clinch a vital victory that Greenock gaffer Duffy insists keeps his side right in the play-off mix.
The Ton boss praises Iredale for getting into the position to score, talks the impact made by sub Scott Tiffoney, the quality of the goals scored by Gary Fraser and John Baird, Bob McHugh’s uncharacterstic miss, and gives an injury update.
