Docherty brothers turn out together for Ton

Brothers Blair Docherty and Ben Docherty say playing together for the Under-20s for the first time in last Wednesday’s 5-1 win against Airdrie was a source of family pride.

Development squad member Blair, 18, started and scored twice against the Diamonds, his first goals at that level, while 15-year-old defender Ben came off the bench for his debut and slotted in seamlessly.

The Largs natives were delighted to turn out together in the same team and hope to do so again in tonight’s Development League West fixture against Stranraer at Cappielow.

Darren Barr’s thrid-placed side host the Blues in Greenock this evening looking to go level with league leaders Queen’s Park, who face Airdrie tomorrow night, with a win. Kick-off is 7.30pm and entry is free.
