Cowshed away section open for business

We are delighted to announce that travelling supporters will be housed in the newly created away end of the Cowshed starting with Ayr United’s visit to Cappielow this coming Saturday.

Club safety officers John Malcolm and Jim McLaughlin made a thorough inspection the area prior to our midweek pre-ops meeting and gave the green light for the section to be utilised at this weekend’s Championship fixture against the Honest Men.

Ayr fans will be stood to the far left of the enclosure towards the Wee Dublin End – entering via the East Hamilton Street turnstiles – separated from the home support by a sponsored mesh netting and a sterile area.

CEO Warren Hawke said: “With works now carried out on the terracing, stairs, and crush barriers along with the installation of the segregation banner kindly sponsored by VSN Bespoke Sportswear, we are delighted to see this area live once again.

“Supporter safety is always our highest priority, and so we took our time to ensure that the section in question met the high standards set by our safety team. Only then were we content to re-open the area to supporters.

“This development was high on the list of priorities for our SLO Craig Skinner and we are thrilled to have been able to take his feedback on board and take action to hopefully enhance our supporters’ matchday experience.

“I well remember the atmosphere generated during my own playing days and would love to hear that level of noise once again as rival fans sing back and forward and attempt to get the better of each other and be their team’s 12th man.”
