Club Statement
Greenock Morton Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Gus MacPherson as First Team Manager until the end of the season.
MacPherson will take up the role immediately and will lead his first training session with the squad tomorrow morning in preparation for Saturday’s game against Dunfermline.
Having managed in every tier of the Scottish game, Gus brings significant experience to the role, having managed at St Mirren, Queen of the South and Queens Park.
We are also pleased to announce that Andy Millen will join the club as Assistant Manager. Having worked in similar roles at St Mirren, Hamilton, Queen of the South, Ayr, and most recently, Kilmarnock, Andy will also bring valuable experience to the coaching team.
The club would like to thank Anton McElhone for his efforts in his time as Interim Manager. Following the resignation of David Hopkin, Anton quickly agreed to take on a difficult task at a difficult time and approached his first managerial position with professionalism, honesty, and endeavour. He will remain in the employment of the club.
Despite the importance of last night’s result, the Greenock Morton Board felt that experience would be crucial in the remaining eight games as we battle to maintain our Championship status and we are delighted to have Gus and Andy on board for that challenge.
