Board Update | 04/01/26

Greenock Morton can today confirm that two new appointees will be added to the Greenock Morton Board this coming week.

David Whitton will be joining the board to sit alongside Graham Barr as the second Morton Club Together (MCT) representative.

David’s professional background is grounded in Operations Management and Business Improvement, with a proven track record of driving transformation, operational excellence, and strategic delivery across complex global organisations.

He was appointed as an Associate Director to the MCT board in March 2025 and joined the interim board in May, before being formally voted onto the MCT board in August.

Since then, he took on the role of Chairman of the MCT board, with specific focus on improving structures within MCT and building relationships with the club board and Morton in the Community.

To ensure that MCT are able to fill their two seats on the club board, the directors of MCT unanimously nominated David to take up a position as a director of the club. He will remain the Chairman of the MCT board.

Chris Woods will also be joining as Finance Director. Chris has extensive experience in strategic financial planning, governance and commercial value creation.

Having worked across many industries from Financial Services to Hospitality, ranging from start-ups to global banks, Chris has gained a wealth of experience and entrepreneurial approach that will be a valuable addition.

Chris is a lifelong sports enthusiast, involved in both football and rugby at an amateur level, and recently served as a board member for Scottish Rowing in the successful build-up to the Paris Olympics in 2024.

On his appointment, Chris said, “I’m delighted to be joining the board of Greenock Morton FC and working alongside the current team, bringing my expertise and experience to promote the long-term success of the club.”

Finally, we have been asked by some supporters regarding the confirmation statement being overdue on Companies House. This has not been submitted yet due to changes on their end with directors all now requiring a personal online code – club director Ross Gourdie has a US mobile number due to being based in San Diego, which has caused difficulties – Companies House have recognised there has been an issue on their end with regard to international mobile numbers. Ross is currently in dialogue with them to resolve this swiftly.
