FORBES RE-APPOINTED MORTON WOMEN’S MANAGER
Gary Forbes has today been re-appointed Manager of Greenock Morton Women.
Having previously held the role, Forbes led the Greenock Morton Women’s side to promotion to the SWF Championship in 2019 as well as the League Cup and returns having recently spent time within the Glasgow City academy.
During Gary’s previous term at the club, he not only sealed promotion to the top tier of the SWF structure, but also had a strong track record in finding talent from the Inverclyde area and developing the talent to become first team regulars.
The club are delighted to appoint somebody of Gary’s calibre and experience and look forward to helping Gary develop the women’s team further.
This begins the transition for the women’s team from Morton in the Community to Greenock Morton FC, where General Manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald and MITC Chief Executive Brian McLaughlin will work closely together moving forward to ensure the further growth and development of the women’s game in Inverclyde.
On the appointment, General Manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald said, “Firstly, I am delighted to have Gary returning to the club. Since the end of last season, we have been taking stock and looking at the overall infrastructure around the women’s team and I genuinely say that there is no better person for the job at this point in time.”
“Gary was the outstanding candidate given his knowledge of the club, his experience and the efforts he has put into himself to continue developing. The players in the team asked us to provide a better platform for them, better infrastructure around them and to give them the respect they deserve, and they were right to do so. By appointing Gary, we feel this is a big step towards answering those questions.”
“The women’s team is in a period of transition from being under the management of Morton in the Community for a long period of time to now coming under the management of the Football Club and its certainly an exciting period for everybody involved.”
“It’s the job of myself and Brian McLaughlin to now make sure that transition is smooth and that the right foundations are laid for the next chapter. Personally, I want to thank Brian and the Morton in the Community board for the hard work, financial backing and commitment they have put into the team and its now about working even harder together to achieve success with the team.”
