George Oakley named cinch Championship Player of the Month for January

George Oakley has today been named the cinch Championship Player of the Month for January 2024.

George has started the year on fire with five goals in January across five games in all competitions. In the cinch Championship, he scored a perfect hat-trick against league leaders, Dundee United which sent the Ton on their way to three points at Tannadice.

The striker ended January with a goal against Arbroath in a 3-0 win, taking his tally to four goals in four league games.

George Oakley’s award this afternoon makes it a double award month for Morton with Dougie Imrie being named Glen’s Championship Manager of the Month for January.

George added, “I am delighted to have received this award after a great month for myself and the boys.”

“Despite this being a personal award, I have to give credit to the gaffer, coaching staff and the rest of the team, we’re all in this together and our recent form has come from a group effort.”
