Festive Message from Dale Pryde-MacDonald
The festive period is upon us and on behalf of everybody at the football club we wish you, your families and friends a Merry Christmas and a prosperous year ahead.
This year has been a challenging one for us all with a cost-of-living crisis making life a real grind for so many up and down the country. However, you have still managed to give us a solid amount of backing and support across this season and the second half of last season also.
Obviously, I have only been part of the Greenock Morton FC family since early November but even in this short period the amount of people who want this club to progress and develop is tremendous. We have a very loyal and passionate fanbase that we want to grow and work with to ensure that we continue to prosper in the years to come and make this an exciting chapter in the club’s history.
This year on the pitch has been greatly successful for the football club, from drawing both sides of the Old Firm away from home in both Cup Competitions to narrowly missing out on the playoffs with a superb 5th placed finish. Do not under-estimate how challenging it is to compete at this level now given the resources and budgets of clubs in this division, and a huge amount of credit must go to Dougie, Andy, the staff and players for what has been a very strong showing from Greenock Morton this calendar year. We certainly have the building blocks in place to continue building upon the identity and philosophy that the Manager has delivered here.
The club has seen further growth off the field with key appointments which were required to be made. We still have a couple of positions to fill and although it will look like a host of new positions being created, we will still be operating with substantially less staff than most clubs at this level with a number of staff in the building still covering a multitude of additional roles. We hope by adding quality personnel to our ranks that it will enable us to further grow and develop our operations to meet the demands of running a professional football club in 2024. It would be remiss of me not to thank Dalrada Technology for their support in developing the off-field operations this year.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the staff and board of directors for their support not just to myself but to the football club this year. The staff work extremely hard to continue delivering for this football club and their efforts do not go unnoticed. At the same time, we have a great board of directors who, as volunteers, all give large amounts of time and energy to the club on a daily basis. Without the hard work and commitment of the staff and board, the club certainly wouldn’t be in such a stable position.
It is important for us all to enjoy and make special memories at this time of year and as we do that, our focus will turn to the second half of the season. We will continue to work tirelessly, as a club, to push further on our journey and to continue building something that we hope everybody can get behind and support.
We will need everybody behind us as the club keeps flying the flag for Inverclyde in 2024.
Again, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2024 ahead.
Dale Pryde-MacDonald
General Manager
