Jai upbeat after successful knee surgery

Striker Jai Quitongo yesterday underwent surgery on his knee and vowed to come back ‘stronger, fitter and better’ after revealing the operation went well.

The 19-year-old was required to go under the knife after suffering an injury during the 2-1 loss to Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park on 10 December.

Manager Jim Duffy checked in with Quitongo yesterday and said that the hitman is in a positive frame of mind and looking forward to starting his rehabilitation.

The Ton boss told gmfc.net: “I spoke to Jai last night after the surgery, just making sure he was okay. He seems quite positive and everything seemed to go okay, but we’re not going to put any timescale on it.

“He’s just had the operation and the most important thing was getting it done. He can start the rehab pretty much immediately, and that’s all we can do besides giving him plenty of encouragement as he works hard to get back to full fitness.”
