Thomas Orr diagnosed with medial ligament strain

Striker Thomas Orr will be out for a minimum of four weeks after being diagnosed with a medial ligament strain following a scan this past Saturday.

The 19-year-old hitman was left in agony after a challenge from a Banks O’ Dee player left him in a crumpled heap during the recent Scottish Youth Cup success at Cappielow.

Orr was subbed off after 41 minutes and later left the stadium on crutches, but he is determined to bounce back from the knee injury quickly and continue the fine run of form that had seen him hit five goals in four Under-20s matches.

Speaking exclusively to gmfc.net at Parklea this afternoon, he said: “I went for the scan on Saturday at Ross Hall and it was all done pretty quick and I was delighted with that.

“We got the results back on Tuesday, and it’s bone bruising and a strained ligament. There’s also something on the back of my knee which I think is related and I’m waiting to get that checked out.

“I think it’s a minimum of four weeks out but I just need to see how my recovery goes now. I had just started to get a wee bit of confidence back as well and had scored five in four.

“When I was out on loan [at Livingston], I didn’t get a lot of game time and obviously that affects your confidence. I got that back and was scoring goals – but then I got battered against Banks O’ Dee.

“It was a horrendous tackle, a definite red card. I would never like to think somebody would go in to intentionally hurt you, so I wouldn’t say that, but it was definitely badly timed.

“Now, I’m just looking to get myself back fit and playing. I’m doing strengthening work with the physios Alyson [Fielding] and Jane [Johnstone] and upper body at the gym. I just need to keep myself ticking over and wait and see how it goes.”
