Andy Murdoch signs until end of the season
Morton are pleased to announce that midfielder Andy Murdoch has today extended his contract with the club until the end of the current campaign.
The 21-year-old former Rangers ace originally signed with us on 23 September after a training stint, penning a short-term contract until 15 January 2017.
But after impressing in his six starts and two substitute appearances so far, manager Jim Duffy has moved to tie Murdoch down for the rest of the season.
And the central midfielder was more than happy to commit himself to the club, telling gmfc.net: “I’ve agreed a new contract until the end of the season and glad to sign it.
“The manager took me aside and said I was doing well and that he would like me to stay and was offering me a new contract.
“This is what I was wanting to do: come in and do well and hopefully get a deal until the end of the season, and I’ve done that, so I’m happy.
“I’ve been enjoying it here and there was no hesitation about signing again. I’ve just got to keep my head down now, keep working hard and hopefully keep playing.”
Andy, who has started the last six successive matches, says the team are looking to continue their positive run of form when they host Dundee United here at Cappielow on Saturday.
He added: “We are six unbeaten in the league now. That’s a good record and hopefully we can keep that going. We just have to keep taking it game by game.
“I’m looking forward to the game. It will be a tough one. They’re in form at the moment too, but if we just keep doing what we’ve been doing we’re in with a shout of getting a result.”
