Lee could go on loan to get up to game speed

Club captain Lee Kilday could head out on loan to get up to game speed after recovering from his long-term injury, manager Jim Duffy has revealed.

The defender returned to action in a Development League West fixture against East Kilbride on 7 February after almost 10 months out with an ankle problem that required two operations.

He completed his first full 90 minutes in Monday evening’s 2-1 win over Airdrie Under-20s, and gaffer Duffy says clubs have enquired about taking the 26-year-old on a temporary basis and that this could be an option.

The Ton boss told media officer Jonathan Mitchell: “Lee has got to play a succession of games, for me. He’s had a game then a little break, missing a couple of days training …

“From his own point of view, [there’s] the confidence; he’s been out almost a year. With the best will in the world, you can’t just throw someone in at this stage of the season when everyone else is really up to game speed.

“He knows himself that he’s got to be sharper, a bit fitter, a bit more game ready, so there’s a possibility he might go on loan just to get some competitive games under his belt.

“We have been speaking to one or two people who have been enquiring about him, so we’ll make a decision on that probably over the next few days.”
