Barr looking forward to Greenock friendly
Under-20s coach Darren Barr expects another tough test for his young Morton team when they face Greenock Juniors at Ravenscraig Stadium on Sunday.
A Ton XI will travel across town to play the local junior outift in an annual friendly fixture, facilitated by sponsors Saveheat and now in its third year.
Boss Barr is looking forward to the encounter and reckons it will be valuable preparation for the Development League West campaign.
He told gmfc.net: “The squad have worked hard since they came back for pre-season and we’re looking forward to the game against Greenock Juniors. We saw the standard is decent from our recent match against Largs.
“Overall we did well. The general play was okay and they’re starting to put in place what I’m asking them to do. There were a few good performances in there and a few surprised me.
“I’m still getting to know the boys and they’re still getting to know me. There’s a good wee group there, so hopefully we can kick on.”
Kick off on Sunday is 2pm and admission prices are £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, while under-5s go free.
