O’Ware over the moon with PFA Best XI inclusion
Defender Thomas O’Ware says he was over the moon to be included in this season’s PFA Scotland Championship Team of the Year.
The centre-half was selected at the heart of the division’s best back four by his fellow professionals, joining team-mate Ross Forbes in the special select side.
And O’Ware, who scored 11 goals this term, including opening the scoring in the first leg of the promotion play-off quarter-final first leg, was proud to be named amongst the second-tier’s elite players.
He told gmfc.net: “Each player in the league voted for their best XI in a 4-3-3 set-up, so you vote for your best keeper, best back four, midfield three and front three.
“I was over the moon to make the team; it’s a great personal achievement, to be noticed by your fellow players and to get in a Team of the Year ahead of some good defenders in the league.
“You have Falkirk players, Dundee United players – big players from big teams who aren’t in it. So I take it as a complement from fellow pros.
“It’s the best season I’ve had at the best level. The league this year has been hard but it’s one that we’ve done well in and I’ve personally done well in.
“As a defender getting a few goals gets your name out there a wee bit more than normal, but I feel like I’ve upped my game defensively from last year so, on that side of things, I’m happy as well and I’ll try and build on it for next season.”
