28. Jack Purdue

Jack Purdue

A talent once described as ‘the best young player our youth academy had produced’ by former Under-17s coach Derek Allan when speaking in March 2016, attacking midfielder Jack Purdue is one to watch here at Cappielow.

Gourock native Jack emerged at Gourock YAC where he caught the eye of youth academy scout Mick King and prompted our move to sign him in November 2014.

The teenager’s impressive progress saw him sign a two-year, full-time contract aged just 16 in May 2016 alongside a batch that included Mitchell Duffy, David Anderson, Darren Hynes, Scott Miller and Ben Eardley.

Season 2017/18 was one to remember for Jack as it was a campaign in which he made his senior debut as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on 24 February 2018.

He also scored the Development League West winning goal from the penalty spot in the final-day decider against Ayr United before now penning a new deal to tie him to the club until 10 June 2019.
