Thomas O’Ware makes 200th Ton appearance

Defender Thomas O’Ware reached a remarkable milestone in his Morton career on Saturday by making his 200th appearance for the club in the 2-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

O’Ware made his Ton debut as a callow 18-year-old in a Scottish Cup tie against Highland League Deveronvale back in November 2011.

Now 24, he is the club’s longest serving player, scoring 25 goals and playing in almost every position, including between the sticks in a reserve game, in his seven seasons with the club.

And manager Jim Duffy congratulated vice captain O’Ware on his landmark appearance following the Ladbrokes Championship fixture at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium

Speaking to media and communications officer Jonathan Mitchell, he said: “Saturday was another top-class performance from Thomas, real leadership from him, winning every header, throwing his body on the line.

“You expect nothing less from Tam. He marshalled the team well and was as determined as anybody. We congratulate him on getting his 200th appearance for the club, and hopefully there are a few more to come!”

Thomas also spoke about his sense of achievement and pride at reaching 200 appearances as well his giving his reaction to the phenomenal 2-0 victory in the Highlands:
